HUFF KNOCKHILLS IT OFF, AS ROUND 21 OF THE BTCC COMPLETES.

HUFF KNOCKHILLS IT OFF, AS ROUND 21 OF THE BTCC COMPLETES.

Rob Huff started and finished first in a “mega-battle” Knockhill finale on Sunday. Small, but arguably the most technically challenging of all BTCC circuits, the 7th race weekend of the season gave the anticipated 40,000 strong crowd no less than 15 adrenaline-fuelled races, with cars quite literally flying out of The Black Circles Chicane.

Bumper to bumper all the way, Huff (Toyota Gazoo Racing UK) checkered 1.395 seconds in front of Ingram, (Bristol Street Motors) who claimed the fastest lap at 51,100. Tom Chiltern (Bristol Street Motors) crossed the line third, with a 1.855 gap, keeping him firmly in contention for the overall drivers’ championship.

A dislodged tyre stack on the apex of the chicane provided drama mid race. Having given cars a cleaner line up to this point, it spelt disaster for Cook who, after a touch with Sutton saved a slide right across the grass to rejoin, only to make contact with Hill, slewing him sideways into the stack and out of the race.

There was disappointment also for proud Scotsman Aiden Moffat raring for a return to the rostrum on his home track, after an early success at Donnington. The Jack Sears Trophy is still well within fellow Scot Pearson’s reach however, as he keeps the pressure firmly on Mickey Doble in a tantalisingly close competition.

Pictured on the podium alongside Sunday’s champions, is Daryl Deleon, the BTCC’s youngest competitor, racing in a Cupra Leon for Duckhams. Debuting last year, the 19 year old has won both the Radical Cup UK and the British Endurance Championship.

Like the BTCC, we’re always up for high contact at The Paddock Co. So, if you’ve enjoyed this round-up, please share it straight to your race mates.
